Lick Library Release Jam With Joe Bonamassa

Lick Library’s Jam With Joe Bonamassa shows you how to get that unique mix of seventies hard rock and British pure electric blues rock with a double DVD set of guitar lessons

The track lessons are by Danny Gill, former Joe Satriani pupil and teacher at MI Hollywood. Jam With Joe Bonamassa (£27.99) breaks down the classic blues-rock of Bridge To Better Days and Joe’s interpretation of the Led Zeppelin track Tea For One. Danny than takes a look at the upbeat electric rave up that is Sloe Gin, the hard rocking Story Of A Quarryman and sparklingly vibrant guitar notes of The Ballard Of Joe Henry with its zepplinesque rhythm. The last two tracks are more recent covers of Bobby Parker’s Steal Your Heart Away with a solo to make you weep and Jeff Beck’s Spanish Boots, which Joe Bonamassa has transformed with his excellent arrangement skills.

If you want to learn more about playing in the style of Joe Bonamassa, check out the Quick Licks Joe Bonamassa DVD, which is full of up-tempo blues riffs in the key of G. Both of these DVDs are available from www.licklibrary.com.

Leslie West, Legendary guitarist and the founder of one of rocks most influential bands, Mountain, will release a brand new solo album, ‘Unusual Suspects’, on Monday September 19th.

The album features West alongside a hand-picked line-up of the world’s finest guitar players; including Slash, blues-rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa, Black Label Society front man and ex-Ozzy guitarist ZakkWylde, ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons and Toto’s Steve Lukather

Released by Provogue Records, the album follows the shocking news that, in late June, West underwent life-saving surgerywhen his leg was amputated above the knee. While such an ordeal would surely deter lesser artists, West insisted on honouring the ‘Unusual Suspects’ album’s September release date and is gearing up for a US tour in October.

Jason Bonham played drums on new Joe Bonamassa album

Black Country Communion bandmates Jason Bonham and Joe Bonamassa have been working on a new album. The guitar hero revealed to GuitarInternational.com that the drummer has been helping him on his forthcoming release.

“We just finished a record a couple of weeks ago,” he said. “Jason Bonham played drums and Carmine Rojas played bass. It sounds a lot like a refined A New Day Yesterday.”

Rojas is known for his work with David Bowie and Rod Stewart. Bonamassa went on to compare the new album with his 2000 debut record.

“The production is a little bigger and a little more sophisticated [than A New Day Yesterday],” he said. “It’s being mastered right now.”

The as-yet untitled album is tentatively set for release next year.
